KFC has opened its 800th Australian restaurant in southwest Sydney’s Oran Park amid continued growth as KFC becomes the fastest-growing quick-service restaurant (QSR) brand in Australia by number of restaurants opened, opening 34 locations in 2023 alone.
The first KFC restaurant opened in Australia in the western Sydney suburb of Guildford on 27 April 1968 and employed just 25 people. Since then, KFC has grown to employ over 44,000 team members and feed millions of KFC fans each week.
KFC SOPAC general manager, Kristi Woolrychsaid, “KFC is pleased to celebrate its continued growth and reach such an incredible milestone with its 800th restaurant opening in Oran Park. We have been the fastest growing quick-service restaurant in Australia over the past six years, opening over 140 restaurants and enjoyed a record breaking 2023, opening 34 new locations in Australia.
“Our growth is centred on our commitment to driving innovation across the industry, whether that be with new flavours and menu items, or across our technology and operations. We are focussed on creating an unmatched customer experience, and we look forward to continued growth and feeding more KFC fans across the country.”
KFC Oran Park has created 70 new jobs for the local area, led by restaurant general manager, Ali Naghi who has been with KFC for six years. Emily Black and Logan Simon take on roles as assistant general managers, both having worked at KFC for five and six years respectively.
“We’re delighted that Oran Park has been chosen for KFC’s landmark 800th restaurant opening. We’re also excited to welcome 70 new team members into the KFC family, providing a significant number of jobs to the southwest Sydney area,” Naghi said.
“Our culture fosters the growth and development of our people by providing opportunities that help them gain lifelong skills, confidence and friends. We can’t wait to welcome Oran Park locals through our doors for some delicious KFC.”
The new KFC Oran Park includes a Drive Thru and digital kiosks for a streamlined ordering experience. The restaurant also incorporates eco-friendly features including solar panels, energy efficient lighting and is partially constructed with recycled materials.
