National franchisor BSR Australia Limited, the parent entity of BSR Group, recently celebrated its first birthday and marked the occasion by formally beginning a new phase in the company’s development.

BSR Australia general manager Ian Brown says the company has not only survived but prospered despite testing market conditions and a challenging beginning. BSR Australia was formed last year to meet the buying and marketing needs of Betta Electrical and Chandlers retailers.

“Our clear aim in the early days of BSR Australia was to stabilise the company and strengthen its balance sheet in the face of some robust competition. I’m pleased to say the company has moved beyond that stage,” says Brown.

“BSR Australia is now entering a phase where we’re focused on consolidating our efforts of the past 12 months and are beginning to explore our options for growing more aggressively.”

Brown says that while BSR Australia’s performance had placed the company in an excellent position to expand, the business wouldn’t compromise on quality.

“As a group our goals don’t revolve around the size of our network but the quality of our franchisees and the services, infrastructure and overall support that we provide back to them. The great relationships we have with our franchisees have been the key to our success.”

Brown says BSR Australia’s retailers, suppliers and employees had all responded magnificently to the challenges faced by the new company during its first year in business. He said the group had an excellent outlook with strong consumer demand for key product categories and several new retailers slated to join the group.

The group was also looking forward to a solid festive season following the launch of Betta’s Ultimate Santa Sack promotion, which gives customers the chance to fill their house full of white goods, home entertainment and appliances.
