Woolworths and NFF partnered to launch a scholarship program, supporting 20 outstanding young professionals in agriculture.

Woolworths has partnered with the National Farmers’ Federation (NFF) to launch AgriEmpower Scholarship, committing $400,000 over four years to support and develop 20 outstanding young professionals in agriculture.

Applications are now open and will close on June 30, 2025, inviting individuals aged 25 to 40 to submit proposals outlining how they plan to make use of the scholarship.

Each AgriEmpower Scholarship recipient will be granted $20,000 to support their chosen project or build capabilities that align with their goals for the sector’s future.

The beneficiaries will be given 18 months to utilise their funds towards their project or developing their professional skills. They will also be expected to participate in events and workshops led by Woolworths and the NFF.

“This is an innovative approach to running at our $100 billion by 2030 goal, by investing in the young thinkers and doers who will help us get there. Whether your passion lies in technology, sustainability, community engagement, or any other area that will drive the Australian agriculture industry forward, we encourage you to apply,” said David Jochinke, President of the NFF.

“The scholarship is unique because it doesn’t require participants to fit a particular mould.   It’s the opposite – we want young people with a range of experiences, ideas and skills to be the recipients of this opportunity.”

“As Australia’s Fresh Food People, our connection to Australian farmers is fundamental. Our partnership with the NFF, including the AgriEmpower Scholarship, demonstrates our commitment to the long-term strength and innovation of the Australian agriculture sector. We believe in empowering individuals who will drive innovation and sustainability in the sector,” said Annette Karantoni, Retail Managing Director of Woolworths.
