Footwear brand Wittner has entered voluntary administration amid cost pressures after more than 100 years of operation.

The company, founded by HJ Wittner in 1912, has appointed Deloitte’s Sal Algeri and David Orr as joint administrators.

“Please be assured that trade will continue on a business-as-usual basis as we conduct an urgent review of the group’s finances and seek expressions of interest from parties interested in the sale or recapitalisation of this iconic Australian brand,” Algeri said.

Aside from its online store, Wittner operates over 20 standalone stores across Australia and New Zealand.

It also runs over 25 concession outlets in David Jones and Myer department stores.
