Real-time payments platform Volt has expanded its partnership with Shopify in Australia, allowing local merchants to offer customers one-click checkout via PayTo.
This builds on Volt’s existing partnership with Shopify, which began in 2023 when its Pay by Bank solution was introduced to Shopify customers in the UK and Europe.
The launch makes Volt the first provider to offer a PayTo integration for Shopify in Australia, allowing local merchants to offer faster, frictionless payments through the national real-time payments infrastructure developed by the New Payments Platform in 2022.
In Australia, Volt is the only real-time payment service provider giving merchants access to over 30 domestic networks through a single integration.
Volt’s one-click checkout offers a similar process to the usual card-on-file method, but uses an instant payment system.
Once shoppers establish a payment agreement with merchants using their PayID during their initial purchase, all following transactions are automatically pre-authorised. This feature enables consumers to complete purchases without needing to approve payments through their banking app each time.
