QBD Books took home the Book Retailer of the Year title at the 2025 Australian Book Industry Awards (ABIA), held at Zinc Fed Square in Melbourne.
The largest Australian-owned and operated book retailer was recognised for its nationwide presence, commitment to service, and strategic focus on both physical and online retail.
Criteria for the award include customer experience, business performance, community engagement, and contribution to the industry.
“This award affirms our approach of combining traditional bookselling values with modern retail innovation,” said Nick Croydon, CEO of QBD Books.
“In a rapidly changing retail environment, this award recognises our ongoing investment in brick-and-mortar stores and our belief that physical bookshops remain vital cultural and connected spaces in our communities.”
The company attributes the success to its ACE (Awesome Customer Experiences) strategy, which equips its staff with practical tools and clear expectations, resulting in positive business outcomes.
Recently, the company opened a store in Greensborough, Victoria, bringing its total store count nationwide to 91.
