Indigenous-owned fashion label Ngali has introduced The Yawa: Journey Collection, featuring First Nations culture, at Australian Fashion Week 2025.
The collection features visual storytelling, print artistry, and an Australian landscape-inspired colour palette.
“This collection is deeply personal – it speaks to the paths we walk individually and together, and the spirit of guidance we receive from our ancestors and the land,” said Denni Francisco, Ngali founder.
“In this collection we’ve created pieces that honour culture, Country, and community. It’s about walking in unity, being seen, and sharing stories that transcend time through fabric and form.”
The collection integrates prints derived from First Nations artworks and a photographic essay by Francisco herself, which reflect Ngali’s recurring themes of individual and collective journeys, ancestry, and land.
Bunjil, the wedge-tailed eagle and creator in First Nations culture, serves as a symbolic guide throughout the journey.
The collection comes in colours drawn from Country, including earthy ochres, sky blues, rusts, and the deep hues of waterways.
Ngali’s scarf series also stood out at the runaway, adding motion and texture to the presentation.
Ngali previously presented solo collections at Australian Fashion Week in 2023 and at international events including Milan and Jakarta Fashion Weeks in 2022.
Its partners include Australian Fashion Council, Commonwealth Bank Australia, Original & Mineral Australia, Bioderma, and Caudalie Skin.
