IKEA Australia has unveiled SANDLÖPARE, a new children’s collection inspired by the African savannah and designed to encourage curiosity, creativity, and care for wildlife. The range aims to engage families in learning about endangered species through play and storytelling.

The launch coincides with a new partnership between IKEA Australia and WWF-Australia. For every soft toy purchased between October 13 and November 30, 2025, IKEA will donate $1 to WWF-Australia to support projects that protect endangered animals and restore natural habitats across the country.

“At IKEA, Sustainability is at the core of everything we do — from the materials we select in our products to the partnerships we foster,” said Renea Robson, Country Sustainability Manager, IKEA Australia.

“Our collaboration with WWF-Australia underscores a shared commitment to protecting biodiversity and inspiring the next generation to care for the planet.”

WWF-Australia’s Chief Regenerative Officer Nicole Forrester said the partnership will help fund critical work to protect Australia’s unique wildlife.

“We have the world’s worst mammal extinction rate and every year more animals join our threatened species list. Thankfully it’s not too late to change course,” Forrester said.

“This partnership with IKEA will support our work to protect Australian animals and restore the habitats they need to thrive.”

All SANDLÖPARE soft toys are made from 100 per cent recycled materials, including the fabric, thread, and filling. The toys are tested for safety, durability, and washability to withstand daily play.

The collection features 29 products that transform everyday spaces into imaginative play environments, with designs inspired by savannah animals such as zebras and snakes. It also highlights lesser-known endangered species, integrating conservation messages into playtime.

Jorge Omar Santoyo Henaine, Product Design Developer at IKEA of Sweden AB, said the toys were created to balance durability and softness.

“The giraffe’s neck was a challenge — it had to stay firm after multiple washes but still feel soft. We’re proud of the result,” he said.

The SANDLÖPARE collection is now available in IKEA stores and online across Australia.
