The GPT Group has started construction on the expansion of Rouse Hill Town Centre (RHTC).

The GPT Group has started construction on the $200 million expansion of Rouse Hill Town Centre (RHTC), aimed at increasing retail capacity in response to strong population growth in Sydney’s northwest.

The expansion will add more than 50 new retail, dining, and leisure spaces, increasing the centre’s total footprint to over 80,000 square metres.

It also includes upgrades to public spaces such as the Town Green, improved amenities including end-of-trip facilities, and 200 additional parking spaces.

Construction is expected to take approximately 18 months, with completion scheduled for late 2026.

GPT expects the works to generate more than 300 construction jobs and over 400 new retail roles once completed.

Hills Shire Council Mayor Michelle Byrne, representatives from the Darug Custodian Aboriginal Corporation, GPT executives, construction partner ADCO, and local retail stakeholders attended the sod-turning ceremony for the RHTC expansion.

Byrne welcomed the development, highlighting the region’s expected population increase of 71 per cent by 2041.

“To support this growth, we need to enhance our parks, sports fields, roadways, schools, and retail opportunities,” she said.

“Rouse Hill Town Centre is already a beloved hub for coffee, shopping, and dining. It hosts one of our libraries and has been the backdrop for memorable events like our Orange Blossom Festival parade and the FIFA Women’s World Cup, thanks to our partnership with the GPT Group. The expansion will ensure it continues to serve as a key gathering place for residents for years to come.”

GPT CEO Russell Proutt said the expansion reflects a broader strategy to invest in centres located in high-growth areas.

“We’re seeing a resurgence in bricks-and-mortar retail, not just as a point of purchase, but as a vital driver of customer experience and a powerful contributor to online conversion,” Proutt said.

“The modernisation of RHTC opens the door for more retailers to establish a physical presence while addressing the evolving needs of Sydney’s rapidly growing north-west corridor.”

RHTC is jointly owned by The GPT Group and the GPT Wholesale Shopping Centre Fund (GWSCF).
