Bunnings has introduced its first-ever Halloween activation, the Bunnings Scarehouse, at its Alexandria location in New South Wales. The three-day event, running from October 28 to 30, will transform the store into a themed experience to engage customers ahead of Halloween.
The Scarehouse offers an immersive experience featuring four themed areas with eerie décor and interactive animatronics made from Bunnings’ Halloween range. Visitors can explore a graveyard, a witch’s lair, a funhouse, and a pumpkin patch.
The Bunnings Scarehouse will also launch Halloween Family Nights, an event running across all Bunnings stores nationwide, inviting guests to celebrate Halloween with free activities on Thursday, October 30, from 5pm to 7pm. The evening will include dress-ups, hands-on D.I.Y. workshops, trick or treat stations, petting zoos, and games.
According to new research from Bunnings, one in five Australians are expected to celebrate Halloween this year, with 75 per cent of those celebrations involving children.
Despite Halloween’s increasing popularity, safety continues to be an important consideration for families, with 45 per cent expressing concern about trick-or-treating safety, and one in four parents have chosen not to participate because of these fears.
Bunnings insights also show that stranger danger (53 per cent) and traffic (40 per cent) are identified as the top concerns, while 51 per cent say that costs affect their celebrations.
The findings emphasise the significance of creating a free, safe, and family-friendly community events that allow families to celebrate without financial pressure.
“Bunnings has always been about community, and we’re thrilled to provide a safe and family friendly experience for locals to come together and enjoy the thrills of Halloween,” said Ryan Baker, Chief Operating Officer at Bunnings.
“Last year, we saw more than 57,000 attendees at our Halloween family nights, and this year we’re making the celebrations even better as more Aussies embrace the spirit of the spooky season, including our Scarehouse in New South Wales.”
Launched in 2023, Bunnings’ Halloween range has grown by 193 percent in 2025 compared to the previous year, driven by rising consumer interest and feedback from families seeking affordable home and garden décor options.
“We have increased our Halloween range by three-fold, offering everything from interactive animatronics and family favourite Disney inflatables to the traditional pumpkins, lanterns and creepy crawlers – anything that brings the ‘wow’ factor to the front façade. Lighting has also proven to be very popular among customers this year who are enjoying our solar stake and string lights.”
Customers can secure a spot for the free Halloween Family Night and see full event details and store-specific activities on the Bunnings website.
