Australia Post has opened its first Australia Post Parcels outlet in Canberra, introducing a new format designed to make sending, collecting, and returning parcels faster and more convenient for customers ahead of the busy end-of-year shopping season.
Located in Mitchell, the new site focuses exclusively on parcel services and is designed to streamline the customer experience. It offers 24/7 self-service options, secure free Parcel Lockers, and vending machines stocked with packaging, stamps, and mailing essentials, allowing customers to send or collect parcels at any time.
Australia Post Executive General Manager Retail, Brand and Marketing, Josh Bannister, said the new format responds directly to customer needs for greater flexibility and convenience.
“The number one reason a customer visits the Post Office is to collect a parcel, so we’re making it easier and quicker to collect and send parcels at a time that suits them, especially as we head into the year’s busiest shopping season,” said Bannister.
The Mitchell Parcels outlet combines in-person support with around-the-clock self-service options and is part of Australia Post’s broader strategy to modernise its network. The format is designed to be scalable and efficient, featuring a compact footprint supported by a streamlined back-of-house setup to handle higher parcel volumes.
