Australia Post has announced the key last sending dates for Christmas gifts and cards, encouraging customers to plan early to ensure deliveries arrive by December 25.

For metro areas across Australia, parcels sent via Parcel Post should be lodged by December 22 for same-state deliveries and by December 19 for interstate deliveries.

Express Post items should be sent by December 23, while Christmas letters and cards should be posted by December 18 for same-state and December 16 for interstate destinations.

Customers sending to or from Western Australia, the Northern Territory, Tasmania, or regional and remote areas are advised to allow a few extra days for delivery.

For international deliveries, Economy Air parcels should be sent between November 21 and December 5 depending on the destination. The cut-off for International Standard parcels falls between November 28 and December 12, while International Express items should be sent between December 5 and December 18.

“Christmas is the busiest time of year for our network and we know how important it is for parcels and cards to arrive on time. We’re sharing these key dates early so people can plan ahead, while also scaling up our operations with thousands of extra team members,” said Gary Starr, Executive General Manager Parcel, Post and eCommerce Services at Australia Post.

“Planning ahead is the best way to make sure your gifts reach loved ones — and while we’ll still deliver items sent after the recommended dates as quickly as possible, we can’t guarantee they’ll arrive before Christmas.”

All final sending dates are available at auspost.com.au/christmas, covering domestic and international delivery options. Customers can also stay informed about delivery updates and service impacts through the Australia Post app or by visiting auspost.com.au/service-updates.
