Amazon Australia has launched Free Same-Day Delivery for Prime members in Perth, allowing customers to order products as late as midday and receive them before 10pm the same day.
This feature adds convenience for shoppers, offering access to hundreds of thousands of items including everyday essentials, electronics, home, beauty, books, and toys.
Same-Day Delivery is free for Prime members on eligible orders over $49, with qualifying products marked by a ‘Prime Same-Day’ badge on the Amazon website or app.
“Australians’ expectations on delivery have changed and that is reflected in our numbers with an over 40 per cent increase in same and next-day deliveries between 2023 and 2024,” said Janet Menzies, Country Manager for Amazon Australia.
“We’re incredibly proud of the diverse selection of products available for Same-Day Delivery, so whether you need a new phone charger, a set of headphones for your commute, or even a birthday present for the kids’ party you may have forgotten, we’ve got you covered.”
Prime membership includes other benefits such as access to exclusive deals and events like Prime Day, streaming on Prime Video, Amazon Music, a free 24-month DoorDash DashPass membership, and unlimited $0 delivery fees on eligible DoorDash orders.
Meanwhile, Amazon Australia will have invested $1.6 billion between January 2024 and 2026 to open five new operational sites, expected to create 4,500 jobs when fully up and running.
In 2024 alone, more than 550 permanent roles were added. The company now operates seven fulfilment centres and 12 logistics sites nationwide, including a $70 million site in Jandakot, Perth.
Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) service also enables third-party sellers to take advantage of Amazon’s logistics network for faster shipping and customer service. Prime delivery is available for all products listed through FBA.
Based on the research of Mandala Partners, faster Business-to-Customer deliveries have helped Australian businesses generate $1.4 billion in sales revenue over the past decade.
Ryan Sanders, CEO of one of the small businesses in Perth like Purple Moon Collection, have commented on the launch, citing how Amazon has helped them reach customers overseas and how improved delivery speed is important to customers.
“Delivery speed is really important to our customers, and we’re excited that same day delivery in Perth now gives locals the opportunity to receive our products even more quickly,” said Sanders.
