Sybase Signs Leopard Systems

Enterprise infrastructure and mobile software company Sybase, Inc. recently announced Leopard Systems as a key systems integrator, for its clients on the Sybase Afaria frontline management and security solution.

Leopard Systems is a leading Australian supplier of barcode based scanning and portable data acquisition solutions for major government and corporate organisations in a range of vertical markets, including transport and logistics, retail and healthcare.

Leopard Systems selected Sybase as its mobile device management platform due to its maturity in the market, breadth of hardware devices supported, software platforms supported and features. Off-the-shelf applicability, industry standards support and flexibility to be tailored to specific customer requirements were also key factors in the decision.

Prior to selecting Afaria, the company used various internally developed device management solutions.

Sybase Afaria is frontline management software that allows companies to centrally manage and secure devices used by workers at the front lines of business, such as salespeople and service technicians.

“In the last six years, we’ve seen an explosion in the number of enterprise technologies extending to handheld devices, which has opened a new world of opportunities for our customers,” said Alex Koumaras, Managing Director at Leopard Systems. “When we deploy hundreds or thousands of portable devices in an implementation, we want to ensure that there are minimal reasons to bring a device back to a central point but remain confident its location and current state are known.  This overriding control extends to software deployment, security, backup and configuration, all of which are administered  while devices are in the field.”

“Sybase Afaria is a cut above the rest in that respect and also gives us the ability to leverage our industry knowledge and expertise built up over 14 years to tailor device management solutions to fit individual customer requirements,” said Koumaras.

“Sybase is pleased to work with Leopard Systems to extend Afaria’s footprint in the market to encompass a range of mobile applications across key industries, including transport and logistics,” said Steve Dolan, Director Channels and Alliances, Sybase Australia and New Zealand. “Together we will deliver solutions that meet the business requirements of emerging mobility projects, enabling companies to secure and mobilise mission-critical information to where it is needed most.”
