Drive-off thefts are a major problem for petrol retailers. In order counteract this problem, the Victorian Police Commissioner has called for the introduction of a prepaid petrol system, however the AACS believe this is not the solution.
The AACS has acknowledged the High Court's decision to introduce plain packaging, however the question as to how retailers will be supported through the change remains unanswered.
The AACS Award was held on 24 August and recognises the quality of the partnerships between retailers and suppliers and measure performance throughout the year.
Coles Express has been named Major Retailer of the Year by the Australasian Association of Convenience Stores.
