“The nomination shows that designing something that is both practical and beautiful is possible,” said Gary Starr, managing director, Motorola Solutions Australia and New Zealand.
“The ET1 allows the enterprise to take advantage of the sleek design and user experience of a consumer tablet, but with the ruggedness needed to sustain the everyday knocks that those consumer tablets simply can’t withstand. The very fact that the device is also great to look at is an added attraction for mobile workers.”
The Android-based ET1 is designed to give mobile workers a new and intuitive way of conducting transactions, sharing and collecting information, connecting with other associates and helping manage tasks in a mobile and reliable way. It is ideal for workers in retail, hospitality, healthcare and manufacturing environments.
The ET1 includes enhanced durability, an optional barcode scanner and magnetic stripe reader, hot-swappable battery packs, and secure system software. Key industrial-strength accessories such as secure multi-slot recharging stations are also available.
“This year’s competition was among the toughest yet and our judges were the most esteemed we’ve had the privilege of working with,” said Stephanie Pemberton, program director of Australian International Design Awards. “To reach this level of the Australian International Design Awards is an outstanding achievement.”
