Australia’s largest loyalty program flybuys is getting an overhaul.
With already over 5 million active cardholders since the programme was launched in 1994, the new flybuys, which is being relaunched by Coles on Monday, will give customers the chance to earn more points, more rewards at more places.
At Coles, customers will now earn 1 point per $1 they spend compared to previous terms where 1 point was earned per $2. This will now be equivalent to rival Woolworths’ Everyday Rewards card points system. From Monday, there will also be nearly 200 products across the story where customers can earn Bonus Points.
Additionally, customers will be able to turn their points into money at the checkout with flybuys Dollars at Coles, Kmart, Target, Liquorland, 1st Choice Liquor and Coles Express.
As part this announcement, Coles also launches my5, which gives flybuys customers 10 per cent off five products of their choice at whatever the price.
Speaking at the launch of the all-new flybuys, Ian McLeod, Coles managing director, said my5 will allow customers to choose their own specials.
“It’s all part of the new flybuys which rewards customers more than ever before just for doing their normal shop. Last year we decided to rip up the rule book on reward cards and build a programme which offers real value to Australians,” he said.
“Our aim was to find new ways to give our customers something truly worthwhile as a thank you for choosing to shop with Coles. We wanted to make flybuys the card for the frequent buyer, not just the frequent flyer.”
Coles has also signed Webjet, AGL and Telstra as new partners to flybuys to its already existing list of partners - NAB, Target, Kmart, Kmart Tyre & Auto Service, Coles Express, Liquorland, and 1st Choice Liquor.
“Customers also told us that they wanted more from their credit card to help them manage their household budgets. So now customers who choose a Coles MasterCard or a NAB flybuys rewards card will earn even more points when they shop. Coles comprehensive car and home insurance customers will also earn 1 point per $1 spent on their policy and an Extra Point per $1 they spend in Coles Supermarkets," Tony Buffin, Coles Finance Director, said.
“By stacking points in this way and using their flybuys-linked credit card, customers can earn five or more points per $1 spent in Coles.”
