In an Australian first, International Sand Artist Baldrick Buckle will use two tonnes of coloured sand to create a confronting exhibition of sand art at Bayside Shopping Centre.
Englishman Baldrick Buckle is an award winning sand sculptor, who’s received critical acclaim for his thought provoking and poignant work.
Buckle will create three works of sand art created over seven days designed to raise awareness of the problems confronting the world’s oceans.
From oil slicks to birds strangled by litter, the sand artworks will be created using coloured sand to highlight the human threats endangering our ocean wildlife.
The enormous yet finely detailed colourful sand works will encourage viewers to consider how their actions impact on the world.
The exhibition will form part of Sand Sculpting Australia’s iconic Toytopia exhibition on the Waterfront at Frankston.
The foreshore will be transformed from December to April as 3,500 tonnes of sand is carved into a wondrous land of childhood playthings.
Visitors to Life’s a Beach will be invited to make a gold coin donation with all funds raised donated to Clean Up Australia.
