Myer has announced that it will be closing its Tuggeranong store in the ACT after its lease is up.
According to the company, the Tuggeranong store represents less than one percent of total group sales and data indicates that a majority of its Tuggeranong customers were also choosing to shop at the recently refurbished Canberra City store.
Myer said it will continue to review its store portfolio with possibilities that there will be further store closures in NSW and Victoria.
The timeline for the Tuggeranong store closure is being finalised but the store is expected to close by May 2012.
In moving the company forward, Myer also plans to establish a panel of specialists to help it deliver its omni-channel strategy.
The company is on a hunt for helpers and the best sourcing model specialising in social media, e-commerce, digital advertising, web design and email marketing.
The incumbent DT Digital will be invited to be part of the process as a key existing digital partner.
Myer group general manager marketing and brand development, Megan Foster, said this is an exciting opportunity for leading creative agencies and digital specialists to partner with Myer.
“Myer has a strategy in place to become a leading omni-channel retailer and we’re looking for the best and brightest to help implement this strategy,” she said.
“We see the digital and online space as a significant opportunity and we want partners to move forward with Myer, with the ultimate aim of providing a seamless customer experience across stores, online and mobile devices.”
Myer requests Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the provision of services for one or more of the range of digital services required. The EOI will close on 13 January 2012.
