Apple co-founder Steve Jobs has died at age 56 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer
“Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor,” the company said in a statement on the Apple website.
“Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.”
Jobs’ health struggle was first apparent when he announced a medical leave of absence in January before resigning from his position as CEO in August. Jobs remained as the company’s director and chairman of the Apple brand
