Telstra goes ‘live' with new store in Melbourne CBD

Telstra has opened its latest interactive telecommunications store in Australia, T [life], on the corner of Bourke and Swanston Streets in Melbourne.

According to Telstra CEO Sol Trujillo Australians want a store where the display mobiles work so they can ‘play before they buy’ – a store that is a one-stop shop, where they can experience new technologies, integrated solutions and tailored services, all live and connected.

“We have listened directly to more than 900,000 Australians, to understand what Australians want from Telstra in a retailing environment and so far we have delivered this at T [life] Sydney, and now at T [life] Geelong, T [life] Chadstone, T [life] Doncaster and T [life] Melbourne.

“Our T [life] stores focus on customers’ business and lifestyle needs and provide integrated solutions for those needs,” he says.

Telstra consumer marketing and channels group managing director David Moffatt says the new T [life] store in Melbourne followed on from the success of the Sydney store.

“The store has two levels that encompass a dedicated area for business customers called [my]business; [my]place offers free one-on-one expert advice; and [my]networked home where customers can see for themselves how to better connect their life at home and while on the move.

“The store also features an interactive zone to explore and play with over 100 live and working devices, the latest technology where customers can interact with future products and a TelePresence meeting room for face-to-face state of the art video conferencing,” says Moffatt.

Customers visiting the store can also take advantage of free daily training and demonstrations in the store’s 50-seat auditorium or book one-on-one sessions with media experts at a time convenient to them. The store, which is equivalent in size to seven tennis courts and features a giant 22x2.5-metre LCD screen, opens to the public today.
