Big name nominees for retailer of the year

Six of the world’s leading retailers have been nominated for ‘Retailer of the Year’, which will be awarded at the World Retail Awards 2008 held in Barcelona this April.

Abercrombie & Fitch, Casas Bahia, Ikea, Inditex, Pantaloon, and Tesco have all been short-listed for the Oracle-sponsored award and will be reviewed at the World Retail Congress by a grand jury including Bernie Brookes, Myer; Sean Ford, Oracle Retail; Paul R Charron, Liz Claiborne; Richard Simonin, Etam, and Simon Susman of Woolworths.

Each company will be judged against a number of key performance indicators including financial performance, product, store innovation and customer service. The winner will be announced at a gala dinner held during the congress at the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya.

Other awards presented that night include Employer of the Year; Retail Destination of the Year; Responsible Retailer of the Year; E-tailer of the Year; Emerging Market Retailer of the Year, and Multi Market Retailer of the Year.
