Design award for Harvey Norman showroom

Cottee Parker Interiors has won a design award for the Harvey Norman commercial showroom at Yatala.

The showroom received a regional commendation at the Royal Australian Institute of Architects Awards for Northern New South Wales and the Gold Coast.

Scott Bagnell, senior interior designer for Cottee Parker said the showroom was a new concept for Harvey Norman in Queensland.

Focused on the design industry – including designers, specifiers, developers and builders – it provides specialised product displays of sanitary ware, bath ware, tap ware, electrical appliances and home automation.

“This is a very exciting concept for Harvey Norman and we were delighted to have the opportunity to partner with them in creating a special space for their commercial clients,” says Bagnell.

“To now be recognised for our design on this project is simply a bonus.”

The Cottee Parker team developed a design that combined function with form to create an appealing space for commercial clients to experience Harvey Norman’s wide array of products and to do business.

The design incorporates a reception area featuring a kinetic curved wall that can be programmed to display any combination of colours. This provides an opportunity to theme the showroom for events or launches and creates a changing dynamic entry statement.

There is also a client café, boardroom, meeting pod and a display penthouse-style apartment.

The apartment is designed to feature Harvey Norman commercials’ home automation technology, including fingerprint access technology, plasma screens, large pop-up plasma television, drop down screen and projector, automatic blinds and lighting automation.

“There really is nothing like this anywhere else in Queensland."
